The Department of Modern English Teaching Practices
is a friendly staff of professionals and associates that are united by love for their work, striving for self-growth and self-improvement. The major goal of teaching students is the desire to share the knowledge we have with the younger generation. We train highly qualified professionals in the speciality 014 Secondary education (014.021 English Language and Literature), Language and Literature (English, German).
Today the educational process is maintained by 6 tenured teachers: PhD in linguistics, associate professor Nataliia Slyvka, PhD in pedagogy, associate professor Liudmyla Rudakova, PhD in linguistics, associate professor Olena Kresan, senior teacher Svitlana Alifanova, senior teacher Oksana Petrova, senior teacher Svitlana Shchur. The academic staff of the department not only provide high quality and interesting teaching, they conduct a large amount of upbringing and organizing work with junior students.
Members of the academic staff yearly have numerous scientific articles and abstracts of their reports published, they actively participate in scientific conferences held in Ukraine and abroad.. The research theme of the department focuses on the study of theoretical and practical aspects of English Phonetics.
The special place in the educative process belongs to the international cooperation, as the academic staff maintain the relations with higher educational establishments of Spain, Czech Republic, Argentina, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, in the course of which they hold shared research and methodological seminars, conferences and trainings, they are members of numerous international professional associations (International Phonetic Association - acting head of the department Nataliia Slyvka; International association of English Language Teachers (TESOL) - associate professor Nataliia Slyvka, associate professor Ludmyla Rudakova, senior teacher Svitlana Alifanova, senior teacher Oksana Petrova, senior teacher Svitlana Shchur). Acting head of the department associate professor Nataliia Slyvka is a coordinator of the International credit mobility project Erasmus + with the university of Valladolid, Spain and a participant of the “Teaching Excellence Program”, that is realized by the British Council in Ukraine in partnership with the Higher Education Institute NAPS of Ukraine. In 2022 the department initiated a new volunteer project Cross cultural talks in the framework of which teachers invited from European universities provide research and cultural education seminars. To attain maximum effectiveness in teaching all members of the staff regularly take traineeship and professional development (advanced training) courses, master new methods of teaching English, use modern online resources and programming tools.
